Canoeing

Home  Ross Lake

The portage is the most challenging part of the trip where we unload the canoes carry everything through the woods and reload on the other side... it is also what keeps Ross Lake only for hearty campers... like us.

Once the canoes

are loaded we head

downstream...until

the first beaver dam

where we do a

"Pullover"

(everybody together

pulling the loaded

canoes over the

beaver dam).

We then canoe a

small chain of lakes

and up another

stream where we will portage onto Ross.

If everything goes well, this part of the trip takes about eight hours... It is our goal to set up camp before dark.
