Our canoe trailer will be packed Friday evening and our carpool caravan will leave Omaha about 4:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The goal is the North Shore of Lake Superior (#5) or a campground west of Thunder Bay, Ontario (#6)... 500 to 700 miles...plus time to set up camp before dark. (See Crossing The Border) To get to our campsites on Ross Lake Sunday night before dark we need to keep to keep moving on Saturday and get a good start on Sunday morning... You are responsible for your own meals while we are traveling in vehicles. We will give you an army surplus rucksack for camping gear. You also will bring a travel bag with clothes, etc. (See "What to Bring") To keep costs down we carpool and share in the cost of gas. We take the total cost of gas for all vehicles and divide by the number going less the owners of vehicles...We do not ask those providing vehicles to pay gas. We do need drivers with vehicles. Mini-vans can make the trip except for the last 1/2 mile...So we cut out a parking area back in the woods and only take the 4x4's the last leg down to the stream. Next: The Logging Roads |
